Like millions of teenagers across the country, Allie Allen was intending to attend her Homecoming Dance, when she received some dreadful news but that’s.

At only 14 years old, Allen was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma, a rare brain tumor, and now she’d relapsed only weekly before the large dance.

” Allen wrote of the ordeal With cranial spinal radiation comes lots and lots of horrible side effects. “Now of course the side effect I was fearing the most — hair loss…;”

This wasn’t the dreadful news for Allen, sadly. She’d coped with worse, and lately also.

In March, her grandpa passed away after his own battle with brain cancer. Her mother is now fighting breast cancer. This was something Allie understood she couldn’t put off. She began chemotherapy promptly.

“[By] Wednesday day I got out of the shower and brushed my hair and noticed it falling out. Of course I had a crisis. It’s not difficult for many people to say ‘it’s only hair’ when you’re a teen girl… but it’s difficult; On Saturday the bulk of my hair was falling out and it was only torture to observe. Sunday morning I woke up with about 2 balls of hair left and shave my head and I determined to pull a Britney Spears 2007. That was really difficult for me to do but that’s one thing I am not stressing over it and got over. One of these images shows my scar everyone can see it, but a scar is a tat with a storyline that is better, right?”

So with a shaved head, Allen didn’t need to miss the dancing and was favorable, but what happened next almost brought me to tears.

Brayden Carpenter, Allie’s date and long time pal, arrived with his own head shaved to help Allie feel comfortable at the Allen family. Allie had no clue it was occurring. Only seeing the large grin on her face lets you know it was one joyful surprise.

As Allie’s mother wrote about youthful Mr. Carpenter, “Now that’s group!!!”

We couldn’t concur more.

The Allen’s have a GoFundMe page set up if you’d contribute to help the family handle their hospital bills and like to learn more. See Fighting with the Allens here.

Allie upgrade. What a week it’s been! Allie’s counts are dropping quick and b/c of her total cranial back radiation it
